Flamepaw shivered inwardly. He had only suggested Snake Cave Clearing because he wanted to impress Thunderpaw. Flamepaw hoped he wouldn't get bitten, that would be horrible! Our clan needs all the warriors and apprentices to hunt during leafbare he thought. Flamepaw glanced behind him to reassure himself that Thunderpaw was still behind him.

Thunderpaw tried to shake of the initial fear he had felt. Starclan wouldn't let anything happen to two innocent young apprentices would they? He scented the air, knowing they were getting close to the clearing.

OOC: Make that one innocent apprentice, and there you go! BIC: Flamepaw reached the clearing and drew a paw over his ear. His green eyes stared at Thunderpaw. "So," he meowed, "Do you want to split up, or do you want to stay together?"

"I guess we'll have better luck if we split up..." Thunderpaw mumbled. He didn't like the idea of being alone among snakes.

A dark ginger shape poked his head up from behind some ferns on the side of the Snake Rocks. He licked his lips and smirked. The apprentice stalked over to his Clanmate and pounced on him. "Ha ha, scared you!" He yowled as he pinned Thunderpaw down on the ground.

Thunderpaw hissed and shoved him off roughly with his hind paws. He hated being mocked and teased, and inwardly the young apprentice seethed. "Is there something you wanted Dingopaw?" he asked, his voice cool and aloof.
OoC: Yeah, Thundiepaw's a grumpy lil kitteh.

Dingopaw smirked, his eyes narrowed. Why couldn't Thunderpaw take a joke? "No, not really." He replied cooly. "What are you guys doing?"

"We were just going to the snake cave clearing to hunt," Thunderpaw mewed. He decided to let the older cat off the hook, mainly because he knew there was nothing he could do. Besides, he would have to concentrate on not getting bitten.

Flamepaw held in his meow of laughter. He knew Thunderpaw was probably pretty mad at the older apprentice, and he didn't want Thunderpaw to get angry at him! "You can come if you want to." he told Dingopaw, turning back towards the cave. They would never get to hunting at this point.

"I'm hunting in the cave!" Dingopaw boasted, "Or at least right inside. There have to be mice in there, or else the snakes couldn't live in there." He didn't know why he said that, but he couldn't help himself. He began to re-think his decision. After all, it would be pretty mouse-brained to hunt in there, but he'd look like a chicken if he all of a sudden reconsidered. Either way, he'd look like a fool. The mice didn't even have to live in the cave for the snakes to live there, in fact, the mice wouldn't live there because the snakes did, they only had to come outside to hunt anyway! His reason didn't even make sense! Dingopaw paused, wondering if he could slip away and hunt elsewhere, or if the other two apprentices would dare him to go through with it before they chose their hunting spots.

Thunderpaw smirked as he saw the position Dingopaw had put himself in. "Yeah, why don't you go ahead and hunt in the cave? I'll stay out here and hunt in the grass, where mice tend to live." He glared up at the bigger cat, silently daring him to do as he said.

Flamepaw walked over to Dingopaw and smirked. "What'cha waiting for Dingopaw?" he meowed, pleasure written all over his flame colored face, "The mice are waiting for you."

"Uh..." He realized he had gotten himself into trouble, and all it could result in is a poisonous snake bite, and not a sucsessful hunt, as he had wanted. The uncertainty in Dingopaw's eyes turned to anger and determination as he squared his shoulders, and puffed out his chest. "Alright, I will." With one last glance at the safety of the outside world, he took a few pawsteps into the cave. The dark ginger tom took a deep breath. It wasn't too late to reconsider, he already looked like a mouse-brain, there wasn't much he could do. And, he could easily beat the other two apprentices in a scuffle, or at least his size gave him an advantage. Maybe.. maybe there would be a mouse or two in the cave, at least enough to get him in and out alive. Dingopaw hesitated as he stared into the cave and its darkness.

An uneasy look flickered across Thunderpaw's face. He had wanted to embarrass the other apprentice, not get him killed! After all, they had sorta been friends before... or at least, not enemies. Then again, there was no way he was going after Dingopaw. The dark furred tom closed his eyes and tried to focus on catching the scent of prey. Dingopaw would be fine... probably.

Dingopaw padded farther into the cave, until he was sure the other apprentices could see nothing more of him. Once inside he opened his mouth to see if there was prey. Nothing, except the horrifying scent of adders and other snakes. There was definately no live prey in the cave. A smirk slid across the dark ginger and white tom's face. He let out a shrill wail, a cry for help and pain. Of course, it was fake. He didn't see any snakes around him, he was perfectly safe for the moment. "Ahh, ow! RREEEOOOWW!" it sounded pretty convincing.
